What this policy covers
This policy explains cookies, local storage, pixels, software development kits, and similar technologies that may store or read information on a device when the storefront or connected Shopify checkout is used.
Essential storefront storage
The storefront uses device-local storage to remember cart contents between pages and visits. This is necessary to provide the cart requested by the user and is not used by Volt District LLC for cross-site advertising.
Security, load balancing, checkout continuity, fraud prevention, accessibility, and network-delivery technologies may also be strictly necessary for the service to function.
Shopify checkout
When the customer opens Shopify checkout, Shopify and connected payment providers may use technologies necessary to operate checkout, remember session choices, process payment, prevent fraud, secure the transaction, and comply with law.
Those services may provide their own notices and controls for technologies used on the checkout domain.
Analytics and marketing
Optional analytics, personalization, or advertising technologies will not be activated where consent is legally required unless the user has made the relevant choice through a consent tool.
If optional technologies are introduced, the consent interface and this policy must identify their purpose and allow refusal or withdrawal as easily as acceptance.
Managing choices
Users can clear site data through browser settings. Blocking essential storage may prevent the cart or checkout from working correctly. Optional consent choices, where offered, can be changed through the consent settings made available on the site.
Retention
Cart data remains on the user’s device until it is cleared, replaced, or removed through browser controls. Other technologies are retained only for a period proportionate to their stated purpose and applicable legal requirements.
Updates
This policy will be updated if the storefront adds or materially changes cookies or similar technologies. The effective date identifies the current version.
